Temples & Ashrams:

Rishikesh is one of the main holy cities of Hinduism. It is also the starting place of Char Dham Yatra for Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri. It has many famous & ancient temples namely Kunjapuri, Bharat mandir, Veerbhadra Mahadev, Someshwar mandir, Chandreshwar Mahadev, Raghunath Temple, Laxman temple. Rishikesh also has various world renowned ashrams & socities of spiritual gurus like Shivanand Ashram, Swami Ram Ashram, Yog Niketan, Geeta Bhawan, Parmarth Niketan, Swargashram & many others.

Neelkanth Mahadev:

It is believed that it was here that Lord Shiva consumed the venom which came out during the Samudra Manthan. Due to this his throat became blue in colour which in Hindi means Neelkanth Natural "Shivlingam" and a natural spring inside the temple is a specialty of this temple.

Triveni Ghat:

This is the main ghat in Rishikesh. The most enchanting experience here is that of the evening aarti which is performed by local priests using large ghee lamps. Vedic chants and conchs fill the air in praise of the Ganga every evening.

Luxman Jhoola & Ram Jhoola:

Lakshman Jhoola (built in 1939) is a suspended iron bridge on the holy river Ganga at a height of 450 feet. It is believed that Lakshmana used to cross the Ganga on a jute rope exactly where this bridge is built. Standing on the bridge one gets a view of the poetic beauty of the surrounding hills. Ram Jhula is another suspended bridge which is more recently built between Shivanand ashram and Swarg ashram.
